The Student Success Coach Office employs an approach to student advising that promotes an ethic of care as we support students on their journey toward achieving their goals both in and out of the classroom. Utilizing the Appreciative Advising model as the foundation that guides our work, coaches provide personalized one-on-one coaching and skill-building workshops, and also serve as:
- Liaisons who introduce and connect students to necessary resources, opportunities, and information
- Motivators who encourage self-discovery, empower students to make important decisions, and hold them accountable for next steps
- Catalysts who inspire students to establish meaningful goals and equip them with the necessary skills to achieve them
Additionally, the Student Success Coach Office recognizes the importance of collaboration with faculty & staff members in further fostering student development and success. Forming a sense of belonging and increasing student engagement with faculty and staff have been noted as critical factors influencing student retention and persistence. We encourage our students to be proactive in seeking out campus connections with their professors and campus community, and we welcome the opportunity for collaboration on initiatives that can further promote these impactful relationships.
